By incorporating cycling as a routine exercise along with the proper training knowledge, riders will see their fitness levels rise and enjoy the health benefits cycling brings. Cycling is an aerobic exercise similar to jogging and swimming in that they all are endurance based physical activities that cause our bodies to burn fat. These physical endeavors require exerting our bodies to repeated movements continuously over a prolonged period of time. During this process, the human body will break down its fat reserves and convert them into energy while under a sustained load. This conversion of fat into energy helps to lower the amount of 1)bad LDL cholesterol in our blood stream, and 2)triglycerides in the liver. A decrease in these two substances are significant in preventing heart disease and combating obesity.

For our bodies to be efficient at burning off fat reserves, we will need to subject them to aerobic activities for longer than 40 minutes in a single uninterrupted duration. Compared to jogging, cycling is way less stressful on the knee joints compared to jogging when exerting such effort for long durations. As for swimming, we are confined to the swimming pool’s limited lane space, its hours of operation, and often face interrruption from other individuals during simultaneous use. Cycling is superior to other two activities as cyclists have wider road paths to ride in, the freedom to ride in any time of day without being confined to a particular location, all while not placing the body weight load on the knee joints. We not only become healthier but also get to raise our overall physical endurance by becoming dedicated cyclists.

To understand how to attain such benefits, it’s important to have some knowledge in physiology.
